Director's Annual Report 2015

Message from Donna Quan, Director of Education

I am pleased to present the 2015 Toronto District School Board Director’s Annual Report. This was a busy and productive year at the TDSB as we accomplished many goals in support of student success and achievement. The way that staff, Trustees, parents and the community worked together to support every student, in every school, every day was truly inspiring.

In 2015, we made substantial progress on the goals set out in the Years of Action, a plan that was established to guide our work from 2013-2017. The Years of Action plan ensures that our focus remains on supporting students and helping them get the most from their learning while becoming confident, motivated and enthusiastic learners and citizens. Examples of our 2015 accomplishments include launching the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) strategy, developing the first Adult Student Census, and introducing the multilingual website.

As the system moves forward with the Years of Action in the coming year, some of the priorities include:

Implementing the EduTech strategy across the system;
Expanding the Model Schools Paediatric Health Initiative by opening two new paediatric clinics in our schools; and,
Continuing to implement the goals identified in the Children and Youth Mental Health and Well-Being strategy. I am extremely proud of the accomplishments that we have worked so hard to achieve together. I know that this record of success will continue because of the dedicated Trustees and staff who support this inclusive and dynamic organization. It has been a privilege to serve the Toronto District School Board and I look forward to the great things this organization and its students will continue to achieve in the years to come.

Donna Quan
