Statement Re: Tragic Events in Nova Scotia

Monday, April 20, 2020
Categories: News Releases

On behalf of the Toronto District School Board, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the people of Portapique and all of Nova Scotia following the weekend’s tragic events.

Sadly, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and mothers and fathers were lost to this senseless act of violence. The victims, their loved ones and all those impacted are in our thoughts at this incredibly difficult time.

Media coverage of this tragic event can be challenging for some students. Our Professional Support Services staff have assembled the following tips for parents that may help with discussions with children, who may experience a wide range of reactions and emotions at this time.

In honour of the lives that were lost, the flag at the TDSB Education Centre in North York has been lowered to half-staff.
