Celebrating Good News – Read about some of the recent events, initiatives and great things happening across the Toronto District School Board, including: 

 

Sikh Heritage Month – The TDSB proudly recognizes Sikh Heritage Month in April. The 2025 theme is Ekta (Oneness), Solidarity, and Resilience. Guru Nanak's teachings on justice, equality, and community inspire educational offerings for students and staff. Last Chance! Nominate TDSB Staff for an Excellence Award – We want to know about TDSB staff who are supporting the success and wellbeing of students, and school and work communities. Excellence Awards nominations are open until April 4


The Budget for TDSB – The TDSB's 2025-26 budget process continues. Learn more about the budget, including upcoming town hall meetings, recently released Financial Facts and other ways to have your say. Learn more

 

Pride T-shirt Design Contest – The TDSB Pride Planning Committee is excited to announce the T-Shirt Design Contest and is seeking unique student-created designs that celebrate 2SLGBTQ+ Pride. The winning design will be featured on TDSB Pride 2025 T-shirts, proudly worn during the Pride Parade on June 29. Students should submit their design by April 11

 

Community Consultations – This Spring, TDSB students, families and community members who self-identify as part of the Asian diaspora are invited to attend a community consultation to support a multi-dimensional strategy that affirms diverse and intersectional Asian identities and addresses anti-Asian racism within the TDSB. Latin x/o/a Community Consultation – Attend an upcoming community event on April 26 focused on gathering insights on how to support the academic achievement of students from the Latin America diaspora. Learn more and register here.  


Spring Class Starts for Hairstyle Enthusiasts & Newcomer Professionals – Spring classes for hairstyling enthusiasts and newcomer professionals start in April! Newcomers with backgrounds in Engineering, IT, and Health can join the Studio500 Hairstylist and Enhanced Language Training programs. Learn more.  


TDSB Summer Programs – At the TDSB, a wide range of enriching summer programs are available to students! Check out what’s happening for Summer 2025:  


  • Elementary Summer School – The Elementary Literacy and Numeracy Summer School Program offers students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 the opportunity to continue learning over the summer. In-person programs run from July 2 to 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at various locations. Remote option available for students in Grades 6 to 8. To register, visit the Elementary Summer School page
  • Special Education and Inclusion Summer School – Programs are offered from July 2- 25 for students currently enrolled in the Developmental Disability, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Physical Disabilities Intensive Support Programs (ISPs). Applications must be submitted by April 25. More Information and registration
  • Indigenous Student Summer Leadership Program – This July, First Nation, Métis and Inuit students can participate in a program that offers leadership opportunities, working with  Indigenous mentors. Learn more and express interest by completing this form
  • Nimkii-Kwe Akiing (Thunder Women On The Land) Summer Cultural Leadership Camp – Between July 2 and 18, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit secondary students from across the TDSB will have the opportunity to learn from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, engage in ceremony and celebrations, and learn from the land. Know Your Worth Scholarship – The African Heritage (Black History) Month Committee's Know Your Worth Scholarship is for students of African heritage graduating from a TDSB secondary school. Students can now apply for the Kujichagulia Academic, Kuumba Creative, and Umoja Leadership awards, each worth $2,000. The three different application links, submission requirements, and deadlines can be found in the Scholarship Package
