Courcelette Public School teacher Lynn Wilkins is one of ten teachers across Canada to be recognized with the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence for 2019.

Since 1993, the Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence have honoured exceptional educators in Canadian elementary and secondary schools. The TDSB has been fortunate to have a number of past winners over the years, including this year’s winner - Lynn Wilkins from Courcelette PS.

Lynn Wilkins receives award from Prime Minister

About Lynn:

Lynn's teaching is founded on her respect for all students' strengths, needs and interests, and reflects her belief that all students can succeed. She introduces design thinking to prompt creativity and risk taking, making the inevitable but essential failures fun (class activity videos often have a blooper reel). A leader within her school, Lynn works with administrators, teachers and students to foster a strong learning community, address diverse students’ needs and create a positive school atmosphere where she helps to spearhead a school focus on universal design for learning. Lynn also plays a provincial role in curriculum consultations, resource writing and teaching, and looks to the next generation of educators, through work with education faculties.

The TDSB also had four recipients recognized with Certificates of Achievement.
