On May 30, the TDSB's downtown gem Beverley School launched a new book called My World, Your world and Our World In Between. Following the success of the book Beverley stories and art work of an exceptional school, students, parents, staff, and community at Beverley School were encouraged to continue to tell more stories. At the launch event for the new book, the community gathered to celebrate at The Ontario College of Art's Inclusive Design Research Centre.
Principal Alana Grossman said that My World, Your world and Our World In Between is dedicated to those who support and live with disabilities and have listened and heard all the stories. "It is for those who have learned through joy and sadness that life can be beautiful no matter what challenges you may have," she explained. "It is for those who love the quirks, the differences and the uniqueness of everyone in their lives, no matter what their abilities may be."
The book was envisioned as a way to give back for all that is gained from working with children with disabilities, and to celebrate the beauty and the sorrow. The result is a collection that is both powerful and truthful. To order a copy, please contact Beverley School.
