The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has reached a tentative local agreement with the Maintenance & Construction Skilled Trades Council (MCSTC). MCSTC is a trades council that represents approximately 760-1000 permanent and temporary maintenance and construction members as well as affiliated trades unions that perform construction and maintenance projects at the TDSB. This local agreement must still be ratified by the Board of Trustees and MCSTC.

To date, the TDSB has ratified local agreements with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (May 2020), the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (October 2020), the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (April 2021) and Occasional Teachers (May 2021), and Professional Student Services Personnel (March 2021).

The final collective agreement to be renewed is with the Occasional Teachers of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. Negotiations are underway the week of October 18, 2021.

Quick Facts

  • The tentative local agreement between the TDSB and MCSTC is anticipated to be ratified in November 2021.

“I am very pleased that the TDSB and MCSTC were able to work together to reach a tentative local agreement. With only one local agreement left to negotiate, we are committed to working with ETFO Occasional Teachers in the days ahead to reach and ratify an agreement that prioritizes our students.”
