Dear Parents/Guardians,

This is an important update about job action being taken by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

Yesterday, CUPE announced that its members will take further job action on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, if a new collective agreement is not reached through negotiations with the province and the Council of Trustees Associations. The new job action will be a full withdrawal of services, which is otherwise known as a strike or a walk-out.

Negotiations are expected to resume on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, and we remain hopeful that a new collective agreement will be reached.

We are working on our contingency plans. It’s important that you know that a full withdrawal of services will result in significant challenges for the continued operations of our schools.

We are committed to keeping you updated. You will soon receive more information on how a full withdrawal of services will impact school-based services, programs and facilities, should this job action commence on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019.
