Possible School Bus Strike at TCDSB and TDSB

Monday, April 29, 2019
Categories: News Releases

The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) and Toronto District School Board (TDSB) have just been advised by Stock Transportation that drivers with two of its unionized school bus divisions (North and East Divisions) will be in a legal strike position as of Thursday, May 2, 2019. As this point in time, a strike is not guaranteed, however it is possible should an agreement not be reached by this date. In the meantime, negotiations are continuing between Stock Transportation and its unions.

The strike would impact approximately 4235 students from across the TCDSB and 4105 in the TDSB, with the majority of schools served east of Yonge Street.

Parents whose children would be impacted by a possible strike will receive a letter from their school to advise them of the situation. In the event of a strike, families are encouraged to make alternative arrangements for their child(ren) to get safely to and from school, and to report any absences in the usual manner.

Parents are asked to monitor media reports for the latest news, follow @TCDSB and @TDSB on Twitter or visit Board websites (www.tcdsb.org and www.tdsb.on.ca) for the latest updates, including a list of impacted schools.
