It’s back to school time again and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is reminding drivers to be alert and slow down in school zones.
In recent years, the TDSB has been working with the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services, Toronto Public Health and other community partners to improve road safety for children and youth. In 2017, the TDSB launched its Traffic Safety Program (TSP), which aims to take a holistic approach to traffic management through both education and engineering interventions. Through a partnership with Green Communities Canada, participating schools receive support from a dedicated facilitator, who works with the school community to investigate and address road safety-related concerns.
The TSP program aligns with the City of Toronto’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan – a five year plan to reduce the number of traffic-related deaths and serious injuries on Toronto’s roads.
