Google Translate Limitations Disclaimer
The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.
The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.
The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.
The Toronto District School Board is committed to equity and community engagement, and by providing this tool, we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English.
Pauline Johnson Junior Public School, named after the poet and entertainer Emily Pauline Johnson, opened in 1969. We are part of a tri-school campus which includes John Buchan Senior Public School and Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute. Located in the Birchmount/Sheppard area, we presently serve over 290 students. We offer regular programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Our students come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Approximately sixty-eight percent of our students speak a language other than English at home, while seventy-six percent of our students were born in Canada.
Diversity is our greatest asset and we are continually examining ways to capitalize on this virtue. We've enjoyed many incredible culturally-focused events such as Lunar New Year celebrations, Black History Month festivities, and spring Cultural Evenings showcasing student talent and food from around the world. Our school's focus is literacy and numeracy in a kind and caring environment. In this school year, we are particularly focused on mathematics. We are proud to have achieved a Gold rating as an EcoSchool and take our commitment to our planet very seriously. The school accommodates a YMCA childcare program which provides before- and after-school care for children attending Pauline Johnson Jr. P.S.
