School History
Marshall Macklin (1798-1886) emigrated to Scarborough in 1828. He was a pioneer planter of trees and his progressive ideas set an example for the farmers in the area. He planted hard maple trees along the roadsides of his farm, and these trees were still producing maple syrup as late as 1966 for Howard Macklin, one of Marshall's descendants. The school's name recognizes the Macklin family.
