Under O.Reg.221/11, school boards are responsible for providing before-and after-school programs for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 where there is sufficient demand and viability. The EDP is complementary to the core school day, provides a seamless learning experience for children, and aligns with the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years.
The EDP hours are from 7:15 a.m. until entry bell and dismissal bell until 6 p.m. each weekday. Programs take place in shared space classrooms offering age appropriate programming that is responsive to the needs and interests of the children enrolled. Some children may require accommodations to support their active participation in the program. Families are encouraged to communicate with program staff and the school principal about their child’s needs. The EDP includes both indoor and outdoor elements and builds on children’s natural curiosities and interests. A healthy morning and afternoon snack is provided each day through our Nutrition Department.
Parent Handbook
The Parent Handbook provides information about EDP policies and procedures including fees, payment details, and nutrition program information. The Parent Handbook ensures parents/guardians/caregivers understand and comply with the policies and procedures set out for the TDSB EDP.
