Google Translate Limitations Disclaimer

The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

The basic translation goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material. Before you act on translated information, we encourage you to confirm any facts that are important to you or may affect any decisions you make.

2019 FOYT Community Request for Summer Student Employees

Focus on Youth Toronto (FOYT) hires TDSB secondary students to support summer programs for children. Student employees are placed with a community program and paid by the TDSB. This is the first opportunity for many of our students to gain valuable work experience and to learn how to become responsible employees. On-site supervision and support is required. Community agencies can apply to host summer students through the online application form at the bottom of this page..

2019 FOYT Student Employee Placement Criteria

  • Agencies must provide a supportive work environment with on-site supervision.
  • Student employees cannot be given managerial responsibilities for summer programs.
  • Student employees are not to be included in required ratio of staff to participants for program delivery.
  • Student employees are not permitted to participate in activities that occur in or on water at a swimming pool, waterpark or open water (e.g. lake or river). Student employees are permitted to participate at splash pads and wading pools.
  • Students require 6 weeks of employment from July 2 to August 9.
  • Students require 35 hours each week of meaningful employment.
  • Students are hired and paid by the TDSB.
  • Agency are required to provide 7 hours of agency orientation to their FOYT student employees before employment begins on July 2, 2019.
  • Agency supervisors are required to submit weekly timesheets for FOYT students.
  • Agency supervisors are required to maintain and submit  daily attendance statistics each week.
  • Agency supervisors are required to update FOYT staff on student progress. 
  • Agency supervisors are required to provide FOYT staff with a 6 week program schedule including dates and locations of excursions. 
  • Agency supervisors are required to attend an FOYT orientation session.
