The Long-Term Program and Accommodation Strategy provides an approach to program and accommodation planning with a ten-year timeframe that allows for responsiveness and flexibility in a changing environment by including an annual cycle of review. The 2022-23 Annual Planning Document included studies to move forward with the implementation of the French Language Review recommendations approved by The Board of Trustees in 2019. This included the phase out of Junior Extended French (Grade 4) and the phase in of the Middle French Immersion (Grade 4) program. At the Secondary level Grade 9 Extended French is phasing out and all students will be in French Immersion as of September 2025.

As of September 2025, the last cohort of Junior Extended French at Sir Ernest MacMillan PS who are interested in a continuation of French programming will be accommodated in the French Immersion program at L’Amoreaux CI. All subsequent Middle French Immersion cohorts at Highland Heights Jr PS, Sir Samuel B. Steele PS and Sir Ernest MacMillan Sr PS will continue on the pathway to L’Amoreaux CI French Immersion program. L'Amoreaux CI will be opening a new French Immersion program in September 2025.
