What Grade Will I Attend?
Each year the Toronto District School Board admit hundreds of students who have recently moved into Canada.
The Ontario Ministry of Education directs enrolment using Age Appropriate Grade Placement. This means that a student’s grade placement is determined by their year of birth.
Elementary students born in a specific calendar year will be placed in the same grade level.
Secondary students may be able to take courses at grade levels other than their assigned grade. For example, a Grade 10 student may take courses at the Grade 9 or Grade 11 level. Course selection is done in consultation with the student’s school Guidance Counselor.
Please note: Grade placement is not determined by a student’s academic achievement, English language level, grade level in a previous school system, or the month in which they were born.
