The electronic translation service on the Toronto District School Board website is hosted by Google Translate, a third party service. The TDSB does not guarantee or warrant the reliability, accuracy or completeness of any translated information.

The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 100 languages, but does not capture all languages or dialects.

2019 Program for International Students July - August, 2019

Learn English and explore Canadian culture with the Toronto District School Board this summer! International students, aged 12-17 will:
  • Improve their English language communication and academic skills with Canada’s largest and most diverse school board;
  • Develop their interpersonal skills while building leadership capacities with friends from all over the world;
  • Receive individualized instruction and student centered education by highly qualified TDSB teachers;
  • Discover Toronto and explore Canada’s rich history through tours, trips and social activities;
  • Experience the great Canadian outdoors through our overnight trips to TDBS Outdoor Education Centres (OEC)

Program Description
  • Students may choose 2, 3 or 4 week packages, with multiple start dates.
  • Monday to Saturday, 9 am - 4 pm

  • Homestay and Transportation includes the programming, homestay and transportation between homestay and school, international health insurance coverage, airport pick up and drop off, and a non-refundable $300 CAD administration fee
  • without homestay or daily transportation includes the programming, international health insurance, and a non-refundable $300 CAD administration fee.

Fee includes

  • English assessment, instruction and materials
  • Certificate of Study
  • Access and transportation for all scheduled tours and activities
  • All excursions and weekly in-town excursions
  • Medical and accident insurance for the duration of the program
  • 3 Meals & boarding at one of our Outdoor Education Centres

Fee does not include airfare or hotel accommodation
Note: Airport pick-up and drop-off are the responsibility of custodians in Toronto. If there are no custodians in Toronto, Canada Homestay may provide the service for a fee. Homestay accommodation (if applicable)
  • Double occupancy (2 students per family) for the duration of the program with three meals per day
  • Transportation between homestay and school
  • $40 per extra night if needed (limited to 1 or 2 nights). Direct contact with Canada Homestay is required in these cases
Registration Deadline: May 10, 2019
  • All notarized, fully completed required forms and payment, which includes the non-refundable administration fee of $300 CAD, are required by May 10, 2019
  • Please note, 6-8 weeks are typically required to process student visas.

Methods of Payment

Fee payment is made payable to the Toronto District School Board, Continuing Education in Canadian currency by one of the following methods:
  • Money Order
  • Certified Cheque
  • Bank Draft: all the information of the cashing bank in Toronto, Canada (i.e. Name, Address, Institution and Branch Number) must be listed on the foreign bank draft

The Official letter of acceptance will be delayed if proof of payment (Wire Transfer Reference Sheet) is not provided.

Refund Policy

Email all refund requests to:
  • Refund amounts are based on the date that the refund request email is sent. The non-refundable administration fee of $300 CAD is deducted in all cases.
  • Program fees will be returned less $300 CAD if proof is provided by June 14, 2019 that the application for the visa was rejected by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
  • No refund if the student withdraws after June 14, 2019
  • No refund if the student violates the rules, guidelines, code of conduct and policies of the Toronto District School Board and the school, and/or the laws of Ontario and/or Canada

Application Procedure

  1. Complete the following forms -
    • Registration Forms
      • Medical Authorization
      • Media Consent
      • Participation Agreement sections
      • Wire Transfer Reference sheet
      • The following documents MUST BE NOTARIZED
      • Custodianship Declaration for Parents/Guardians in home country
      • Custodianship Declaration for Custodians in Canada
    • Homestay Form - Please note that the guardian/custodian/agent of the student(s) are responsible for the application and registration for homestay through Canada Homestay Network.
  2. Provide payment. See Methods of Payment.
  3. Submit the forms and payment in person, by mail, or courier, no later than May 10, 2019 to:

  4. Upon receipt of full payment, an Official Letter of Acceptance will be issued. The letter can be used in the home country as proof of registration and is used to apply for visas abroad.
