TDSB Budget – Virtual Town Halls

This year, as a result of the closure of schools and cancellation of in-person meetings at the TDSB due to the COVID-19 pandemic, two virtual budget town hall meetings will be held to ensure that the community has an opportunity to hear directly from staff about the 2020-21 budget, and also ask questions and provide feedback.

When are the Virtual Town Hall meetings?

Two virtual meetings have been scheduled for July 8 to accommodate as many community members as possible.

Wednesday, July 8, 2020
1-2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 8, 2020
7-8:30 p.m.

How do I access the Virtual Town Halls?

You can access the virtual meetings by clicking on the links below. On these pages, you can also register in advance to receive an email reminder before the meeting begins.

July 8 – 1 p.m.
July 8 – 7 p.m.

What can I expect during the Virtual Town Halls?

The meetings will begin with a live presentation by staff on the budget. Participants will then be able to ask questions or leave comments via ScribbleLive (text only, not on video). These questions will answered by staff live, on video. All questions and comments will be posted to the ScribbleLive feed beside the screen. For those who cannot attend the meeting, a recording of the video and the feed will remain online.

Can I review the draft budget in advance of the meetings?

Please see the 2020-21 Financial Position and Draft Operating Budget report. Due to a delay in the release of provincial funding and the resulting compressed budget scheduled, the TDSB draft budget will be presented at a Special FBEC on July 7. Additional supporting documents, including all budget reports that have been presented to committee so far, can be accessed on the  TDSB’s budget website .

Are there other ways to share feedback on the budget?

At the FBEC meeting on July 9, trustees will be provided with a summary of the questions and comments from the town hall meetings to inform the development of the final budget. Oral (by phone) or written delegations are also encouraged at this meeting. Learn more about the delegation process.
