Orde Street Public School

School History

Orde Street PS was built on Taddle Creek, which was used by Indigenous Peoples for fishing and social gatherings before colonization.  The Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississauga of the Credit settled farms on lands close to where our school was built.  The language of the Mississaugas can in fact be heard in the name given to nearlby Spadina Avenue, which comes from the Anishnabek word "ishpadina", meaning hill or sudden rise in the land.  Their history and spirit remind us of their ongoing presences and history on the land we learn, wok and play on.
