School History
Burnhamthorpe CI opened as a regular high school in 1956. In 1998, it was converted into an Adult Learning Centre (BALC). In 2002, the EdVance program commenced which focused on supporting students aged 18 to 20 who were behind in their credit accumulation. Today, both the Adult and the EdVance programs run, supporting both new and established Canadians. At BALC, there are also specialty programs such as Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Child Care Assistant (CCA). The Introduction to Health Care program is a pathway to the PSW program. Co-operative Education is also available.
