Toronto Public Health - Vaccine Update

Below please information from Toronto Public Health regarding vaccines for Virtual Students and Students in Grades 7 and 8.

Community Vaccine Clinics for Virtual Students

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Under Ontario's Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA), all students (both in-person and virtual) are required to be up-to-date with Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis (whooping cough), Varicella (chicken pox) and Meningococcal vaccines or have a valid exemption.

The vaccines mentioned above are available for free at Toronto Public Health (TPH) community clinics, along with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Hepatitis B (Hep B) vaccines. Both HPV and Hep B vaccines are optional, yet highly effective in preventing serious illness.

Vaccinating students helps protect them against infectious diseases and some cancers. It also prevents them from passing on an infection to other vulnerable people in their family or school community.

Where to get vaccinated

TPH has community clinics by appointment for students from JK to grade 12 to catch up on missing vaccinations:

  • Etobicoke Civic Centre: 399 The West Mall
  • Scarborough Civic Centre: 150 Borough Drive
  • North York Civic Centre: 5100 Yonge Street

Hours of operation:

  • Tuesday to Thursday
  • 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Next steps
Students who are not currently up-to-date with their vaccinations should:

  • Book an appointment at a TPH community clinic by visiting TPHBookings.ca.
  • Review the Childhood Vaccines Quick Reference Guide for further information.
  • Bring a copy of their yellow immunization card and health card on the day of the clinic (if available).
  • Wear a loose-sleeved shirt while attending the clinic.

Students can also get the vaccines for free from some health care providers and walk in clinics.

Already Vaccinated?
If a student has received one or more vaccines from their health care provider, please report the students’ vaccination(s) to TPH using the Immunization Connect Ontario (ICON) online tool.

For more information about TPH’s vaccine programs, visit toronto.ca/StudentVaccines, talk to your health care provider, or make an appointment at the VaxFacts clinic to speak to a doctor over the phone. You can also call TPH at 416-338- 7600, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Services is available in multiple languages.
