TDSB Shines at 2024 Skills Ontario Competition

The 2024 Skills Ontario Provincial Competition brought together top elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students from across the province to demonstrate their expertise and compete in 82 different trade skills and STEM competitions over two and a half days.

This year, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) had over 100 students and teams participate in the Ontario competition, showcasing their talents across a variety of categories in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. TDSB students placed in the top 5 in the following categories:

  • Auto Collision Repair
  • Auto Painting
  • Fashion Design
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Graphic Design - Presentation
  • Hairstyling
  • IT Network Systems Administration
  • IT Office Software Applications
  • Job Interview
  • Mechanical CAD
  • Outdoor Powered Equipment
  • Plumbing
  • TV & Video Production
  • LEGO Robotics
  • Technology
  • Green Energy

Winners that were awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals have the potential opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition, with the possibility of advancing to the WorldSkills Competition. We are pleased to highlight the following students and teams that placed in the top three in their respective categories:

Gold

  • IT Office Software Applications: Zander F., Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute
  • TV & Video Production: Vincent Z. and Howard Z., Earl Haig Secondary School

Congratulations to these Gold medal winners who went on to compete nationally at Skills Canada, with Zander winning Bronze in IT Office Software Applications and Vincent and Howard winning Gold in TV & Video Production!

Silver
