Congratulations to Principal Peter Rewega, of Huron Street School, who has been named Ontario School Library Association Administrator of the Year. This award honours a school administrator who has brought their influence to bear on the development of effective school library learning commons programs.

At the awards ceremony on January 25, Teacher-Librarian, Diana Will Stork, shared many staff and student stories from the nomination package that spoke to how Peter’s active and intentional leadership and support of the Huron Library Learning Commons program is integral in building a school culture where reading, inquiry and collaboration are at the hub of the learning community where everyone is included and belongs.

In his acceptance speech Peter spoke about the positive impact of libraries, library programs reading and literacy in his own life and how he has leveraged his leadership to ensure the students and staff of the Huron Street School community have access to a wide range of opportunities within a Library Learning Commons programs that is integral to their school experience.
