Stories from staff and students at Beverley School was recently featured on CTV’s W5 as part of a feature about the 9th annual Dream Serenade – a concert event that brings together musicians, artists, and the community to raise funds and awareness for Beverly School and families of children with exceptionalities.
The Beverly School serves students with developmental and or physical disabilities and follows an alternative curriculum that tailors learning and activities to students needs. The school has a long history in special education and was represented at the first Special Olympics in Chicago in 1969 by the school’s floor hockey team. In fact, research completed at the Beverly School provided the inspiration for the creation of the special Olympics.
The Dream Serenade concert series not only entertains but also plays a crucial role in raising funds for educational programs and services that cater to the unique needs of students at Beverley School. Year after year, the concert series has successfully drawn a diverse audience, generating a sense of community and shared purpose. Since its founding in 2014, Dream Serenade as raised over $400,000.
