As part of the 2023-24 Cyber Protection Strategy Initiative, the Ministry of Education is committed to developing and sharing flexible resources to support a collaborative approach between the ministry and school boards – to improve cyber awareness in boards in the areas of cyber security, protection of privacy and online safety.
Resources to support the annual K-12 Cyber Awareness Month (K-12 CAM) in October 2023 have been developed in partnership with school boards, the Educational Computing Network of Ontario (ECNO), the government’s Cyber Security Division, and various ministry stakeholders. Each week in October will feature a different cyber focus, with custom videos, posters, games, and links to curated resources from reputable sources.
The K-12 CAM campaign is a modified version of the internationally recognized Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign, tailored for the needs of the Ontario K-12 education environment.
As these and other resources become available online for the K-12 CAM, cyber awareness calendar, K-12 Zone, and the OPS CAM, we continue to advocate for greater awareness of good cyber security, cyber safety and online privacy practices to help reduce cyber risk – helping to keep students, educators, schools and school boards better protected online.
