What health and safety protocols are in place?

Public health protections that were in place last year will continue this year, such as masks, physical distancing, hand hygiene and cleaning of high touch surfaces to create safer environments for students and staff. Learn more about all of our strategies to keep students safe.

Can students who attend a school via Optional Attendance because they are registered in before/after care remain in the school this year even if they aren't registered in before/ after care for the 2021-2022 school year only?

If a student was granted admission to an optional attendance school previously, it will be honoured when they return to in-person learning.

What is the TDSB planning that goes above the minimum standard set by the Ministry of Education?

In addition to ensuring all HVAC systems are operating at peak efficiency, the TDSB is placing HEPA filters in every occupied classroom. Through Provincial and Federal funding, work is being done at schools to improve ventilation systems and windows. TDSB is considering developing additional health and safety protocols in consultation with Toronto Public Health. Provincial authorities are responsible for developing an outbreak management procedure for school boards and testing routines. Learn more about ventilation.
