Before- and after-school programs (BASP) provide important
care for families and their children outside of instructional hours and days.
The TDSB is committed to working closely with these programs so that they may
continue to serve children and families in our schools.
To support the safe reopening and ongoing operations of
BASPs during the COVID-19 Pandemic, programs operated by licensed child cares
are required to adhere to the requirement set out in the
Ministry of Education Operational Guidance During COVID-19
Outbreak: Child Care Re-Opening
and the Toronto
Public Health COVID-19 Guidance for Child Care Settings
. Updates have also
been made to the
Ministry of Education Before and After School Kindergarten to
Grade 6 Policies and Guidelines
to provide COVID-19-related
operational guidance.
To give families a sense of what to expect in
licensed child care, the City has developed this short
video.
Policies and procedures will vary between operators and the
decision to operate, determine operating capacities, and program fees will be
made by organizations and individual program operators. Parents/guardians
should speak directly with their child’s BASP provider if they have any
questions about the policies or operations of these programs.
