New Horizons Early Years Conference Saturday, May 4, 2019

New Horizons: Exploring the Landscape of Equity in the Early Years 

This conference is aimed at providing Early Years educators with practical strategies and tools to engage learners and improve achievement and well-being through an equity stance. Educators will be provided with opportunities to deepen their understandings of Equity in education as it pertains to the Early Years pedagogy and approaches. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in a hands on learning environment called “A Landscape for Play” that is designed to invite experiences that support equitable learning opportunities through play. 

Attendees will also have the opportunity to:

  • Attend two break-out sessions of their choice 
  • Engage in a hands-on learning environment to invite experiences that support equitable learning opportunities through play 
  • Visit information displays and resources 

The conference will: 

  • Deepen understanding of Equity, Anti-Oppressive Education and Inclusivity in the Early Years.
  • Highlight and support the work of educators who are focused on identifying and removing systemic barriers within an Early Years context.
  • Facilitate partnerships and identify opportunities for ongoing collaboration among educators, Designated Early Childhood Educators, Licensed Child Care Providers, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, TDSB schools, and communities.
  • Deepen understanding through inclusive design around eight key sub-themes.
