Williamson Road Junior Public School's Mission Statement
Williamson Road Public School is located in the Beaches area of Toronto. The building dates from 1913, with the third floor opened in 1919. From 1961 to 1965, Williamson Road was a Junior/Senior school (JK - Gr. 8), but since the opening of Glen Ames Senior School in 1965, Williamson Road has been a Junior School (JK-Gr.6).
- The school offers both English and early French Immersion programs.
- The school's enrolment is approximately 560 students
- The school offers special education support through our Resource and MART teachers
- The school building houses a Day Care Provider and shares gym and pool facilities, parking lot and caretaking staff with Glen Ames Senior School and the Beaches Recreation Centre.

LITERACY GOALS
* Through intervention and support, our goal is to help at-risk students achieve at grade level by June (writing/reading).
* Provide focused intervention in writing and reading in both French and English (timely/targeted)
* Use enduring understandings/big idea focus to promote critical thinking through Inquiry Learning (Teaching Learning Critical Pathway)
* In the 2013-2014 school year, there are five collaborative inquiries being lead by the teachers that are investigating and implementing ways of supporting and improving students' abilities to express their ideas and communicate information through writing
MATH GOALS
* Focus on problem solving activities and the use of manipulatives to reinforce conceptual understanding
* Adopt a common problem-solving model and share it with parents
* Create a math talk community & use of technology
* Use Grade 3 and 6 rich problems to develop parallel tasks for Grades 1 - 5 and collaboratively assess them
PATHWAYS GOALS
* Examine the homework policy
* Align homework practices with TDSB policy from JK - Gr. 6
* Work with Glen Ames to provide for a smooth transition from Gr. 6
* Share best teaching practices / common language throughout the school

* Promote parent engagement by revamping School Council website to improve communication
* Examine issues of equity, especially related to identity

Student Life - Where You Belong
GO TEAM
At Williamson Road Public School students are involved in many co-curricular activities. All students can participate in the Fall Cross Country Meet and Spring Track and Field Team. Our Grades 1 to 6 students participate in swimming instruction at the Glen Ames swimming pool. Our students have been reusing, reducing and recycling. We are a Certified Gold Eco School.
Our students are engaged in Inquiry Based Learning and focused on Social Action Initiatives. These include supplying daily neccessities and clothing for needy families, and organizing Bake Sales to raise funds for Free the Children, Centre 55, and Terry Fox.
Our Music and Drama Programs at Williamson Road serve to enriche student life. Our students can participate in the Grades 1, 2 Choir and the Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 ORFF Ensemble. Our students perform at Community Events such as Blue Jay Family Day, and Herbie Day at Sick Kids Hospital.

Williamson Road Public School is a dual track school, located in the Beach Community. We have an active School Council that supports school based initiatives. Junefest, our exciting spring fundraiser is organized by the School Council and is a successful event. Our strong focus on Community, with student involvement in social action initiatives throughout the grades, truly sets us apart.
Our school environment is enriched by Scientists in the School, Visiting Artists, Guest Authors, French and English public speaking, and the new advent of the Sizzling Hot Lunch Club. We also celebrate the arts through student participation in our winter and spring concerts.
We are a vibrant learning community and we believe every child can meet with success.
