Meadowvale Public School's Mission Statement

Meadowvale Public School is located in the Meadowvale Community of West Hill on the east side of Meadowvale Rd. south of Hwy. 401. The school population is currently 260 students. These students represent many different cultural backgrounds.  Meadowvale Public School offers regular programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We opened 2 classes of Full Day Kindergarten in September 2013. A not-for-profit daycare, Meadowvale Daycare Centre, is housed in the school building and offers supervision to pre-school and school-aged children.

School Focus

Our commitment is implementing TDSB's Vision For Learning.  We will focus on improving Achievement, Equity and Well Being. Integrating the use of technology across the curriculum will allow our students to be 21st century learners.  Life-long learning includes all staff who will be engaged in Professional Learning Communities throughout the year. We emphasize an understanding of Character Education which is celebrated at our monthly assemblies.  Building strong environmental awareness occurs through our Platinum Award winning Eco-Warriors Club.  We work closely with our community and are building a partnership with the School Council.

More Information About Meadowvale Public School

Literacy

We will be working to have our students achieving at and above the provincial standard of level 3. Our focus will be to encourage our students to become enthusiastic readers and writers. Some of the strategies and actions we will use are: higher level thinking skills e.g. reasoning, analysing and providing descriptive feedback to them .

Numeracy

Our goal is to increase the percentage of students who will achieve at and above the provincial standard, level 3, in mathemathics.  Our school wide focus will be on an inquiry model teaching through problem solving; ensuring a broader understanding of math vocabulary; breaking down instructions, processes and problems and improving our use of technology.

Pathways

We strive to provide our students with a variety of experiential learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom to identify what their interests are and what skills they demonstrate. This can assist them in choosing, with their parents/guardians, the best path for the next phase of their academic careers.

Community, Culture and Caring

Parent relationships are vital to the continued strength of our school. We value a strong school and home partnership and build on that through activities such as our annual Curriculum Night, Parent Engagement Events and concerts to build positive relationships with our parents. We support the larger community through food drives and fundraising programs.

WHAT SETS US APART

The Meadowvale community of teachers, parents and community members are part of a team of people who all work together to provide a safe and caring school environment.  We have a multitude of volunteers in the school who help to support  students both in and out of the classroom.

Through the generosity of parents and their involvement in the School Council a variety of activities are planned throughout the year which are very well attended and supported.  Fundraising efforts are done in partnership with staff and help to raise funds for events such as Gr. 8 graduation, Scientists in the School, Arts Presentations and field trips.

We strive to make Meadowvale P.S. a community of learners that can fulfill their potential in a safe, welcoming and engaging environment.
