More Information About Macklin Public School
A Safe & Caring School Environment
Our students learn in a safe environment. We practice emergency procedures and train student safety patrollers to work with our school crossing guard to maintain traffic safety. Our office staff complete a daily "Safe Arrival Program" and our school doors are secure throughout the day. Macklin benefits from a partnership with our school community police officer.
We Care for the Environment
Macklin is a proud eco-school! For the past 10 years, we have been the recipient of gold, silver and bronze eco-school certifications. Our staff and students have participated in a number of local and global environmental awareness activities. Some of these include: community clean up, outdoor classroom, earth hour, tree planting, and litterless lunch program.
Student Leadership
We promote leadership at Macklin! Many of our students engage in school wide activities that develop skills in leadership, organization, communication and teamwork. Some of these activities include: Grade 8 MAC Council, Eco Club, Prefects, Girl's and Boy's Clubs, Kindergarten Helpers, Peacekeepers and Safety Patrollers.
Build Character; Build Success
Macklin teaches character education to develop both social and emotional life skills in our students. Every month we highlight a character trait and hold a school assembly to recognize students for positive behaviour. The traits include: respect, responsibility, empathy, kindness, teamwork, fairness, honesty, co-operation, integrity and perseverance.
