Fleming Public School's Mission Statement
Fleming P.S. opened in 1990 on land that had been the Fleming family farm. The school has about 280 students who have opportunities to participate in a wide variety of programs. A YMCA daycare centre is housed in the school for children aged 2-10 years. We are committed to preparing children to meet the challenges of a constantly changing world. In partnership with our community, we promote the development of a positive self-image and respect for others. Our motto, "Everyone A Leader," focuses on the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students. Our multicultural school reflects the values and beliefs that make Canadian society culturally strong and enriching. We strive to build a community of learners and leaders.
Leadership
This year Fleming continues to embrace the motto of, "Everyone A Leader." All students and staff will be given opportunities for leadership of varying degrees. The intermediate students and teachers have been working with the books,"The Leader In Me" and "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" to engage the grade seven and eight students in leadership throughout the school. Leadership opportunities are also to be made available to our staff and parents. It is our hope that all of our students and staff will be given the opportunity to show their potential while working within the nurturing environment of the school.
Our Student Council is an active elected body of students from Grade 6 to Grade 8 at Fleming. Student Council Executives from President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary make decisions that affect the student body. The Student Council is involved in Caring, Safe and Accepting Schools, fundraising for charity, and planning events to engage Fleming Public School students socially and politically. At Fleming Public School, Student Voice matters.
