Our Mission Statement:  Each member of the Lynngate family - community, home, and school - is committed to educate every child in its care by providing the skills, knowledge, and values necessary for individuals to be capable, healthy and responsible participants in Canadian society.

Code of Behaviour
Our Code of Behaviour is rooted in the responsibilities of a democratic society It outlines the responsibilities of all members of the valuable partnership between staff, parents/guardians, and students. It commits us to assist all students in developing an appreciation of learning, respect and caring for self and others, a sense of belonging and social responsibility.
Our monthly Gator Gatherings focus on the TDSB Character Development Attributes and worthy students are awarded with certificates and their photos are displayed on our slide show is the main hallway. We embed Indigenous Education into our curriculum with a focus this year on the Seven Grandfather Teachings and Oral Storytelling.

Superbrain Yoga

Lynngate is the first TDSB school to engage in Superbrain Yoga. SBY is combined with the basic understanding of how the body’s energy works, how the brain functions, and how the body utilizes its fuel.
SBY is an effective technique designed to specifically optimize brain wellness to improve mental performance and regulate emotions by energizing the brain to stimulate the production of  Alpha Brain Waves which  produce a synchronization of the right and left hemispheres of the brain, creating the brain’s most optimal state for healthy, conscious learning.
Lynngators do SBY, Mindful Curriculum or some form of mindful activity once a day.

WHAT SETS US APART

At Lynngate we believe that increased physical fitness makes for successful learners. Besides increasing physical activity through intramural sports and physical activities at lunch and before/after school, we also provide students the opportunity to expend energy during the school day by using "deskcycles" and stand-up desks. To complement our fitness initiatives we also offer a Nutritional Snack Program to grades 1 to 6 every morning. This program is supported by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success and implemented by parent/student volunteers.
Lynngate is also one of the schools identified by the Ontario Tennis Association to receive complimentary Progressive Tennis Lessons as part of our Physical Education Program. Students are encouraged to join a community tennis club such as Stephen Leacock so that tennis fitness can become a leisure skill for life.

PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We have a good relationship with the YMCA Daycare through support of programs and supervision of children. We participate annually in the Terry Fox Run and the Christmas Food Drive for Agincourt Community Services. We host student teachers and ECE students from Tyndale University, the Zurich University of Teacher Education, Centennial and Seneca College. We have an active School Advisory Council with parents who work as partners in education by assisting with classroom activities, excursions, sport competitions, our music program, Nutritional Snack Program and special events. Each year we plan and invite our parents and students to a special Family Night in either Literacy, Math,  STEAM, Fitness or Mental Wellness. Lynngate has been a host school to visiting International Principals from Australia, Italy Norway and New Zealand as we extend our learning to the larger borders of the Globe.
