Knob Hill Public School's Mission Statement
Knob Hill Public School is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school with approximately 500 students and 50 staff from over 30 countries and speaking 20 different languages. Since the brick building was erected in 1956, there have been several changes. In 2011, interior renovations gave us brighter, more modern learning spaces. Along with our newly designed library, there is a small community room where parents are able to access a parent lending library and a computer. Our Full Day Kindergarten classrooms are bright and inviting for our youngest learners, and our new Grade 7/8 suite is modern and has access to a variety of tech. tools.
Knob Hill Public School Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement was co-created with student, parent and staff input. We gathered ideas from each group, drafted a few different statements and chose this one as the best representation of our ideas and goals.
Knob Hill Public School is a place where we recognize and respect our similarities and differences. We are partners in creating a safe, student-centered environment that is relevant to the needs of every learner and equips them with the academic, social, and leadership skills needed to become contributing members of a global society.

Build Character, Build Success
Character Education is an integral part of developing the whole child. Other athletic teams for our Grades 5-8 students include basketball, volleyball, soccer, cricket, and ultimate football. Our Grades 1-3 students are offered intramurals at lunch and kilometre club at recess.
Our students also have the opportunity to take part in one of our arts-focused clubs such as dance club, folkdancing, or choir.
Students explore social justice, global citizenship and leadership with Eco Club, Boyz 2 Men, and Changemakers.
WHAT SETS US APART
We believe that our shared commitment toward equity in education and culturally relevant and responsive teaching and learning is one of the special characteristics of our school. All of the educators at Knob Hill share a common desire to effect positive change for our students by helping them to develop both the academic skills and character traits necessary for overall success. As an MSIC school, we pride ourselves in having a shared sense of moral purpose - which leads us to continuously strive to improve our practice and provide students with instruction that is not only effective, but is also meaningful and relevant. We believe that the authentic relationships that exist within the building between staff and students is what truly sets us apart. "Students First" is the motto that drives our decision making. This philosophy guides us in our endeavour to provide our students with learning experiences that lead to personal growth and academic success.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Knob Hill has a number of partnerships to support our students and their families. Two of our most popular partnerships are with Settlement and Education Partnerships in Toronto (SEPT) and our Parenting and Family Literacy Centre (PFLC). SEPT supports us with an assigned settlement worker to assist newcomers to Canada, and our PFLC serves our youngest community members (babies to 6 years old) and their parents. Community Volunteers, Teacher Candidates from faculties of education, and Co-operative Education Students also provide assistance to our students and teachers.
Our 2016/2017 School Council is active with several parents attending our meetings. They are enthusiastically planning activities to bring our families together so they can connect with and support each other.
