George P Mackie Junior Public School's Mission Statement
George P. Mackie Jr. P. S. is a dynamic neighbourhood school that was originally built in 1954 and named after
George P. Mackie, Trustee, for the former Scarborough Board of Education (1927-1952). The school is nestled in a residential neighbourhood southeast of Markham and Kingston Roads, just north of the magnificent Scarborough Bluffs. We serve 170 students from kindergarten to grade 6 in a well-established community with a rich history. We are committed to providing a healthy, thriving learning environment fostering high academic achievement, physical, social and emotional well-being and citizenship.
We are PLATINUM!!!
In 2011 George P. Mackie Jr. P.S. became an Eco-school. This year, we have continued our goal and once again received PLATINUM status!! Students, staff, and parents play key roles in our eco-awareness.
Our Eco-club, led by Ms. Qazi, has been working diligently to bring strategies and awareness to staff, students and the Mackie community as we all work together in our commitment and respect for the environment. Our students continue with their role in litterless lunches, the recycling program and our compost program.
