Anson Park Public School's Mission Statement

Mission Statement

The Anson Park P.S. community is committed to working together to help students achieve their best academically, socially and personally.

Anson Park is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 public school which opened in 1959. It is named after the park located adjacent to the school. Anson Park P.S. serves a stable community.  Many of our students' parents attended the school as children. Our school population is approximately 247 students. Although we are a small school, we offer a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular programs. We value community involvement and our parents are active in supporting school-wide events and organizing activities.

School Focus for this School Year

We continue to work towards improvement in three areas; academic achievement, equity and wellness.  We are working on spatial awareness and proportional reasoning and infusing reading strategies while we 'mathematize' Anson Park!  We are looking into our own bias and power in order to serve the entire school community to the best of our ability.  We continue to work on wellness and this year are providing mindfulness sessions at recess in our Library.

The Arts at Anson Park

Our students are involved in a variety of sports.  In the fall, many students run in several Cross Country meets and everyone participates in the Terry Fox Walk/Run in September.  Volleyball, baseball and other sports clubs are offered as extra-curricular activities by our dedicated staff.  Many students participate in the annual TDSB Track and Field meet.

ECO School

Anson Park is a Platnium ECO School.  We have worked with artists to beautify our grounds inside and outside.  We have continued our work on planters around our school.  We strive for litterless lunches and we expect all members of our community to care for our school, inside and out.  We are very proud of our status as Platinum this year.

They celebrate learning with activities such as plays, Drop Everything and Write, author visits, and much more. Finally, teachers participate in various workshops and access technology to reach and teach all students.
