West Hill CI is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre of Innovation. We endeavour to create 21st century employees that have skills in the key growth STEM sectors through our instructional focus on Inquiry, Problem Solving, Critical thinking, Collaboration and Communication.

We are a traditional non-semestered school.
Center of Innovation
All students in the STEM Centre of Innovation program will be working towards a Certificate. Students in this program will have additional opportunities for sector-specific/career relevant certifications, unique Reach Ahead and Enrichment activities. Students in the Grade 9 Enriched STEM program may be considered for WHCI’s Advanced Placement programming.
Students in the Grade 9 Enriched STEM program are required to take: 4 English, 4 Mathematics, and a minimum combination of 8 Science and Technology courses. In their Grade 9 year, students are in Enriched Science, Technology, English and Math.
Students can focus their learning by selecting courses that meet their unique pathway plan in the following areas of Science/Technology: Computer Engineering, Computer Programming, Computer Electronics Technology, Construction Engineering, Manufacturing and Design Technology, Transportation Technology, Aesthetics, Hospitality and Tourism, Health and Wellness, Kinesiology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Student Leadership Opportunities
West Hill students benefit from various student leadership opportunities including Student Activity Council, Prefects, and Student Athletic Council. Student Leadership opportunties are also available in a wide variety of co-curricular activities including student action groups, sports teams, GSA, Tech Crew, Eco Team, and Multi-Cultural activities to name a few.
Drama/Media
The drama/media department boasts two studios to host classes and workshops. Dramatic arts and music performances are a highlight throughout the school year. If you have a passion for sound/lighting, you can become one of the members of our lighting and sound crew.
Special Education
West Hill C.I. is home to 2 self-contained classes designed to meet the needs of secondary school age students with developmental disabilities. These classes have 10 students, a special education teacher and educational assistants. These students are supported in physical education and on excursions by our leadership students.
Student Support/Guidance
Our student services team provides you with connections to post-secondary educational options, to work opportunities and to career counselling. We have the career information and resouces you need to help plan your future. Gain valuable work experience in any area that interests you. We have two and four credit programs in partnership with the OYAP program.

Student Life - Where You Belong
GO TEAM
We celebrate our cultural diversity with multicultural celebrations, activites, committees, multifaith organizations and African Heritage Month. We are "Warriors" when it comes to athletics. You can have fun in our many clubs, including newspaper and yearbook. Participate in our popular annual talent and multicultural shows. We also have a daily snack program and a homework club after school.
If you are interested in social justice, the Terry Fox run, Me-to-We, Run for the Cure and the CN Tower climb for United Way. Participate in the Empowered Student Partnership (ESP) program and work with our local Toronto Police Service to help keep our community safe.
WHAT SETS US APART
Student leadership is a priority at West Hill. We help you transition smoothly into the grade 9 the week before school starts with our "Moving On Up" program. In addition, we organize a one day camp for all Grade 9 students in September. We offer you rewarding opportunities with our school and athletic councils, clubs, leadership retreats, peer relationships and prefects.
Participate in one of our action teams and raise awareness about social justice and human rights issues.
You will get out of school what you put into it. Get busy and get involved - an active school is a safe school!
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
PARENT INVOLVEMENT:
- School Council meets four to six times throughout the year for updates on matters such as staffing and enrolment, and to support school activities.
