Our programs provide students with academic and/or technical skills. The caring staff at EALC and EdVance School recognize and understand the need to increase their skills and to gain requisite knowledge; we are available to support students. Our classes are held at times that best accommodate students who may have a job or family responsibilities.

344 Students graduated in 2013-2014.
480 applied to Community College,
75 students applied to University.
Many students are previous High Schools graduates returning to upgrade for career path changes in post-secondary training. 54 students were eligible for Apprenticeships offered by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities.

Co-op is a program designed to assist foreign and other trained professionals gain valuable experience in the Canadian workplace. It improves and develops language proficiency and job hunting skills, whilst affording secondary credits. Students spend between 3 to 16 weeks in a class room setting and in the field in placements relevant to their fields of study.

EDVance
EdVance is new at Emery. It is designed to accelerate credit accumulation and upgrading for 18 to 20 year olds, returning to complete their OSSD. During 4 Nine Week Quadmesters, students can earn up to 12 credits in an academic year. Many students exit into Colleges, University programmes and the Trades. Students benefit from small class sizes and extra academic support!!
English and ESL Studies!!!
Students explore the socio-cultural world from a literary context. Field trips to The Shaw Theatre, The Stratford Festival, local plays and movie theatres augment this journey. Avenues for success are filled with ongoing tutorial supports and a variety of differentiated instructional approaches to the exploration of film, drama and literature.
Emery Adult at Large
Our graduates keep in touch with stories of success radiating from locations throughout Canada, ranging from Alberta to New Brunswick, celebrating their success. We dominate the adult school world in basket ball and are one of the first adult schools to successfully participate in the University of Waterloo Math contest.
STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math
Our 21st Century Math and Science Department also includes STEM learning initiatives. CAS Nspired technology, Geometers Sketch Pad and Gizmos are used. Students receive on line support. Embedded activities including wet/dry labs, field trips to Ryerson, the Science Centre, the Royal Botanical Gardens, and the Toronto Zoo are inclusive. Tutorial support is available.

The Emery Adult Learning Centre/EdVance is a community that fosters life-long learning. We strive to provide innovative and relevant programs in a supportive learning environment. We encourage personal growth in our students, leading them to become confident, independent thinkers, aware of their strengths and values in a competitive and changing society. We provide opportunities for the adult learners to achieve their educational, personal, and career goals. We promote partnerships within the community to meet the needs of the adult learner and the community. The diversity in our community is celebrated.
WHAT SETS US APART
In addition to our commitment to students' academic success, we also provide steller extra-curricular activities, tutoring, including student support from York University, Faculty of Education, job fairs, women's clinic, and motivational speakers. We also provide lunch time Bollywood, Salsa and African dance classes, African drumming circle. Starting this fall, students can join a school choir and student band, learn Tai Chi, and act in a school play.
