As a Model School Yorkwoods receives additional funding to support Innovative Teaching & Learning, Parent Engagement and Student Well-Being. Our teaching staff are engaged in professional learning that is connected to school data as well as engaging and responsive teaching practices. Our resource teachers work with students through a blended model of in-class and small group resource support.
High Expectations and Responsive Teaching
We believe in high expectations for all.
One of our key goals is for every student to have leadership opportunities. Our students can apply for a wide variety of school jobs and positions of responsibility. Some of our classes even help to compose the monthly message and place it in the school sign! We run a variety of leadership clubs aimed at building students' confidence and leadership skills. We celebrate student leadership in a variety of ways including photographs of students in action, mentioning student leadership on our social media accounts, making congratulatory announcements and sending good news post cards home.

On the opposite wall is another mural depicting different animals living together in their calm environment.
