Brian Public School's Mission Statement
Brian Public School, located on the east side of Brian Drive, is an integral part of the Pleasant View community. The school opened over fifty years ago and today serves approximately 350 students representing many different language groups. We are proud of our students' effort and encourage them to be their very best, both in the English program and the French Immersion program. We offer a full-day kindergarten, outdoor learning spaces, a library and on-site daycare providers.
Safe and Caring School
We are dedicated to providing a safe, caring and welcoming learning environment where every child feels valued. We also focus on the social, physical, and emotional development of our students. Students at Brian PS are supported in their learning and development through the Second Step program, Zones of Regulation, Bullying Prevention lessons, and facilitation of cooperative play. We are learning about the Seven Grandfather teachings and the TDSB character traits and how they contribute to our learning focus and achievement.

Strong Literacy & Numeracy Programs
Our students performed well in the 2024 EQAO Assessment (Gr. 3). In Math, 67% of students are at level 3 or 4; in Reading, 83% are at level 3 or 4; in Writing, 72% are at level 3 or 4. We use DRA (K-3 Eng.), Alpha Jeunes (FI) & CASI (Gr. 4-6) to track reading progress. Special Education teachers work with groups of students to support learning.
Physical Education and Sports
We are fortunate to offer physical education classes with a specialist teacher. We are proud of our boys, girls, and co-ed teams who spend many hours of practice to bring home banners seen in our gym.
Proud to be ECO School!
Brian is proud to have received gold recognition as part of ECO Schools. We continue to work actively with staff, students and parents to reduce garbage through litterless lunches and recycling, by planting a native species garden in front of our main entrance and beginning a "seed-sitting" partnership in our school community.
Celebrate the Learning!
Students participate in monthly assemblies to celebrate the joy of learning and recognize positive behaviour. Classroom presentations may focus on the Indigenous learning lens, Character Traits, and academic success. There are also musical or dramatic presentations prepared by students.

GO TEAM
At Brian, students have the opportunity to be the best they can be each and every day and succeed academically, in sport, or in the arts. They are encouraged to become leaders through various leadership opportunities, clubs, sports and activities offered during the school year.
WHAT SETS US APART
Brian Public School students continue to perform both above TDSB and Ministry of Education standards in our grade 3 EQAO results. We are proud of our hard working staff and students who have created a safe, welcoming and caring school where diversity is respected and valued. Our school code of conduct and the TDSB character traits are now embedded in every aspect of daily life here at École Brian Public School.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Brian has a very active School Council where community members run a variety of school and fundraising activities and work in partnership with the school. Our parent volunteers assist in numerous school activities: library, play day, fundraising, classroom presentations, classroom excursions and other special events such as Pizza Lunches.
Several organizations operate permits in the school and we have two childcare centres: Brian Petits Amis (Pre-school), and YMCA Before and After School Program (Grade 1-5). We partner with Faculties of Education to support student-teachers, and also local Colleges to support ECE Students. We also welcome co-op students from neighbourhood high schools to assist in the school. International Language programs are offered through Continuing Education after school on a weekly basis (Greek and Mandarin).
