Seneca Hill Public School's Mission Statement

Seneca Hill Public School is a Kindergarten to Grade 5 school located in the northeast part of the city, south of Finch Avenue, east of Don Mills Road and just south of Seneca College.

Seneca Hill P.S. is a dual program school in that we house the regional gifted program which draws from the wider community for students in Grades 4 and 5.  We also have a Full Day Kindergarten program.

Phoenix Child Centre - daycare (416-492-8888), a community based program, works very closely with the school.  Children from 2 1/2 years old and up are provided with a stimulating and nurturing program.  There is a before and after school program for school-age children.  The daycare is accommodated within the school building.

Seneca Hill Public School was established over fifty years ago.  From the outset, the parents of the students at Seneca Hill have been involved in the life of the school.  This tradition continues to the present day.  We continue to have an active School Council that supports the school in many ways.  The school is responsive and sensitive to the challenges presented by a very diverse population with a number of languages represented.  We have developed connections to the community to facilitate ongoing communication.  As a community-based school we are committed to the principles of excellence, safety, equity, and partnerships.

Academic Excellence

The teachers and staff at Seneca Hill are dedicated and committed to the students and they have been involved with many different professional learning opportunities that enable them to provide the best possible programs to our students.  Our students experience success, and this can be attributed to the continual hard work of both students and staff.

GO TEAM

At Seneca Hill Public School, we believe strongly in helping to develop the whole child, both academically and socially.  As such, our students have a wide variety of activities to choose from.  Examples of such activities include a variety of sports teams/programs, recorder, choir, various book clubs, chess clubs, leadership clubs and activities, and after school programs.  These are just a sample of what is offered to our students as the list is extensive and always changing.  As always, when we discover a particular need of our students we address it quickly, and this often leads to the creation of fun and dynamic clubs and programs!

WHAT SETS US APART

Seneca Hill is a small school which is involved in many big things.  We are a dual program school in that we house the regional gifted program which draws from the wider community for students in Grades 4 and 5.  We have a very involved and supportive parent council whose support has allowed us to bring special programs like Scientists in the School to our students.  The Parent Council is also instrumental in organizing and running special events; in the past, they have run Bingo Nights, Movie Nights, Bake Sales, Yard Sales and even Spring Fun Fairs.  Seneca Hill Public School also has many special activities such as chess tournaments, robotics and spelling bees.  We also bring in a variety of musicians and performers who come to our school for special assemblies and occasions.  We believe in meeting the needs of all our students in an environment which respects one another's similarities and differences.  All of this is possible due to a hard working and committed staff, parents, students and community members.  This is truly what sets us apart!
