Music

Music at Martingrove can be best described as a traditional performance-based music program. 25% of the school is enrolled in the Music Program, where instruction is provided for traditional Concert Band instrumentation or for Orchestral Strings

Our co-curricular and extra-curricular ensembles are featured in our two annual concerts, Festive Interlude and Fantasia. Our large ensembles participate in festivals each year and our senior music students travel on an international performance tour every second year.

Technologies and Visual Arts

We have a very integrated technologies program, where students can choose from graphic arts technology, film and video, photography and automotive technologies just to name a few.

In Visual Arts, students create art works through the disciplines of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and architecture. Art works are frequently exhibited not only in the school but in the community.

Co-Curricular Activities

To complement a strong academic experience, we offer a dynamic co-curricular program to enhance the student experience. The numerous and diverse array of teams and clubs ensures that there is an activity to meet everyone’s interests. Leadership development is also very important at Martingrove.

Our leadership program is dedicated in helping the students at the school integrate into our school system and truly become a part of the Bears! The year-long program gives all students an opportunity to get involved. Grade 10 students have the opportunity to attend the camps, while Grades 11 and 12 students take on the task of arranging them, unlocking their leadership potential.

We also have a very competitive athletics program, where our athletic teams have frequently won provincial championships, most notably our boy’s basketball team who are defending OFSAA champions for the past two years.
