Melody Village Junior School's Mission Statement
Melody Village Junior School is located in the diverse and multicultural community of Rexdale in northwest Toronto. We brand ourselves as THE BEST IN THE WEST school currently serving approximately 250 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We are a fully French Immersion Center--the only one of its kind in the northwest part of the board. We have a beautiful library with a vaulted ceiling and gazebo, a courtyard as well as outdoor classrooms. Our school also houses Silverstone Learning Centre, a daycare facility. Come grow with us!
Our Mission Statement: Melody Village Junior School, a safe and welcoming multicultural learning environment, nurtures and equips our children with a sound foundation on which to build their futures in an ever-changing community. We will challenge and empower all our learners to develop a healthy identity, to confidently refine their potential as responsible, self-disciplined, lifelong achievers and to become our next trailblazers.
School Improvement Plan
We will continue to focus on increasing our sense of joy, belonging and engagement by fostering a healthy self-identity development and by promoting critical engagement. We will continue to enhance cultural respect, lived experiences and contributions of diverse cultures, including Indigenous teachings and successes.

WHAT SETS US APART
The staff at Melody Village Junior School is committed to ensuring that all of our students are successful academically, as well as socially. We try to determine how each student learns best and then we work on using strategies that will best support his or her learning. We also like to make sure that families and other community members are part of the learning plan for our students. In addition, we do our best to meet community needs when possible.
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Community volunteers, including parents, high school co-op students, teacher candidates from various faculties of education and students from other community college and university programs, are actively sought to work with our learners. We work closely with the staff of the Silverstone Learning Centre to support our students and to provide smooth transitions to and from school. Our School Council members meet regularly to hear about and discuss issues that affect the Melody Village community. Information sessions for parents include Public Health programs, preparing students for E.Q.A.O. and other topics of interest chosen by the school council. Opportunities to attend special events are also offered to families when possible.
