Highfield Junior School's Mission Statement
Highfield Junior School, was originally built in 1845. It is located in the North Etobicoke, West Region, Quadrant 1 in the TDSB.
With just under 600 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Our school believes in the highest quality of holistic education that focuses on academics, as well as the social and emotional needs of each of our students.
Our mission at Highfield Junior School is to empower all learners to become creative problem-solvers and responsible global citizens in our diverse society, by ensuring an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment brings together the students, educators, family, and community as a team!
Highfield Community Enrichment Project
The George Hull-Highfield Community Enrichment Project is an integral part of the Highfield JS community. It is part of Better Beginnings, Better Futures which is one of the most ambitious research projects on the long-term impacts of early childhood development programming ever initiated in Canada. Platinum Certified EcoSchool
Congratulations to all students, staff and community partners who, together, helped Highfield achieve the highest Eco-School status! Our student Eco-Team and dedicated staff continue to promote litterless lunches, energy conservation and global stewardship. Highfield's new wing is unique in that we are the only school across the TDSB to be heated by Geo-Thermal energy!
National Award Winning Phys.Ed Program
Highfield is very proud of our engaging Physical and Health Education program which was recently awarded the Elementary Platinum Recognition Award from Physical and Health Education Canada! This award is a testament of the creative and inclusive approach of our dedicated teaching team which ensures that all students are set up for success!
Uniform Policy
Since the spring of 2009, Highfield students have worn uniforms of black pants, white shirts and maroon vests/sweaters with the Highfield crest. Uniforms are mandatory for all students in Grades 1 to 5. Many parents choose to buy a crest for $5.00 which they sew onto a white shirt. Parents can get details regarding purchasing a full uniform from our school office.

Student Life - Where You Belong
GO TEAM
Student life at Highfield includes multiple rich opportunities for learning through "real world" authentic connections using innovative technologies, such as: SMARTboards, iPads, Chromebooks, and various virtual communication tools.
We are excited to announce that Highfield students have had the opportunity or will have the opportunity to participate in Boys Junior Volleyball, Girls Junior Volleyball, Minds Up Club, Office Morning Ambassadors, Dungeons and Dragons, Craft Club, and Ultimate Frisbee Team
Through our partnership with the Albion Boys and Girls Club, students are welcome to participate in our after school tutoring and homework initiative to foster an already rich academic life at Highfield.
Highfield's Nutrition Program offers students daily snack to ensure that all students are best prepared for their learning!
WHAT SETS US APART
What sets Highfield JS apart is:
- We published our very own book with Scholastic entitled, Counting on Zero (ISBN 978 0 545 99405 7) in 2007. An incredible honour!
- International Languages Program featuring classes in Arabic, Aramaic, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Somali and Urdu
PARENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our Highfield School Council promotes a positive school-community partnership. Parents are also active contributors to our school Fundraising Committee! Our many wonderful volunteers make our classrooms and programs a true partnership between school and community.
Our Action Team Partnership committee includes members from Council, leaders from the local daycare facilities, our Community Service Partner and from the Highfield Community Enrichment Project. This dynamic group continues to co-plan and foster networking amongst parents.
