Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute's Mission Statement
Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute is one of the most diverse secondary schools in the TDSB. The secret to our student success stems from the many cultures that come together to create an amazing learning and social environment where students, staff and our community learn from one another. MGCI offers many unique programs; horticulture, financial securities, English as a Second Language, Special Education, SHSM, and our TOPS program. We also have over 70 student-led co-curricular activities and a wide range of competitive team sports. At MGCI, we ensure that every student that enters our building has choice in programming and a safe learning environment where they fully apply their creative talents.
Marc Garneau: What We Offer
In addition to the regular instructional programs mandated by the Ministry of Education, our school offers choices in a variety of program areas: Arts, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality, Co-operative Education, Languages and Athletics. We also offer core ESL courses to our early language learners. Details of these programs can be found in the Choices document available at www.tdsb.on.ca.

All of our students are encouraged to develop a well-rounded education which also includes participating in the various aspects of school life.
WHAT SETS US APART
Co-op is available to any student with interest and commitment to exploring a career area of choice. It is open to students studying at the essential, college or university level with a variety of post-secondary destinations: college, apprenticeship, university or direct entry into the workplace. Although a student can apply in any grade, it is recommended that students be in grade 11 or 12 or as chosen by some, after earning a graduation diploma and before moving to post-secondary learning. The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a specialized program that allows students to gain credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and focus their learning on a specific economic sector at the same time. Our Dual Credit program provides students the unique opportunity to experience new and varied learning that appeals to their interest, strengths and learning profile. Students successfully completing these college-delivered courses earn both a secondary school and college credit.
