School Council Insurance and Events

School Councils who purchased insurance for the November 1, 2020 to November 1, 2021 policy year continue to be insured under the same policy until January 1, 2022. An extension has been provided.

 

Due to the challenging insurance market conditions, we continue to evaluate the need for purchasing separate insurance coverage for School Councils as well as the handling of risk and insurance related matters for the future.

 

School Council insurance coverage consists of a commercial general liability policy related to losses resulting from School Council events, members participating in School Council and TDSB sanctioned activities, for example, liability coverage resulting from an individual injured at a School Council fun fair that was approved by the Principal and in turn, claims against a School Council and most often, would include the TDSB. Losses related to and covered under a non-commercial general liability policy, such as property, cyber, drone, automobile or crime insurance, are not covered. All School Councils should ensure that events and activities are both pre-approved and approved/sanctioned by the school Principal .
