On February 23, Africentric Alternative School students, staff and families took part in a special presentation and bus tour in honour of African Heritage Month. Classes from nearby Sheppard PS, Stilecroft PS and Daystrom PS were also invited to participate in the presentation, and visited the bus which was parked at the school.
The bus tour, organized by the TTC, recognized and celebrated the legacies and contributions of 11 remarkable Torontonians, including Dr. Carl James, Professor at York University and Dr. Roberta Timothy, the first Black Health Lead at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
This year’s theme was Building on Legacies: Celebrating Black Excellence in Toronto and honoured those who have left an indelible mark on our city.
