Embracing the Change of Seasons: How to Stay Grounded with a Healthy Fall Routine!
Wednesday, October 09, 2024 09:18 AM
With a new season, comes many changes to our lifestyle and overall mood. New diet, more or less social interactions, a change in routine, change of wardrobe, maybe even a hairstyle or appearance change. How does this affect our day to day and what can we do to ensure we practice good mental health? If you find yourself getting the early winter blues, know that you are not alone.
Maintain a Daily Routine
Earlier sunsets and brighter mornings may disrupt our usual routine, but taking steps to maintain it can support our mental health during changing times. Daily routines should include getting a good night’s rest, eating regular meals and perhaps incorporating mood boosting foods such as fruits and leafy greens, exercising when able, and continuing activities or hobbies you normally engage in.
Talk to People
Whether it be a quick phone call throughout the day to check in on a friend or relative, gathering with community members in a class or meeting with friends or family on a weekly basis to catch up. Talking to people and engaging in healthy conversations provides an outlet and an opportunity to connect with people who may be feeling the same as you do.
Find Things that Make You Happy
Including activities that bring us joy in our daily routine can help us find happiness each day. These activities might range from hobbies and sports to chatting with friends or watching a good movie. Creative pursuits like music, art, photography, and other forms of expression can also help us find peace and relaxation during challenging seasons or difficult times.
