Homework

Homework is important and is an opportunity to catch up or get extra help when you need it. Completing homework builds good study habits that will help you to succeed in high school and beyond.

The TDSB's Homework Policy aims to balance the time required to complete homework with other commitments such as extra-curricular activities or a part-time job. Homework assignments for students in Grades 9 to 12 are carefully planned by teachers with an estimated completion time of two hours or less.

Extra Help
Are you are looking for extra help with homework? All TDSB schools offer programs, peer tutors, or homework clubs. Many high schools also offer extra help at lunchtime or after school. If you are interested and want to know what your school offers, talk to your teachers and/or principal.

Tips

  • Record homework in your agenda or planner, and make sure the expectations are clearly understood.
  • Ask teachers for clarification or help when expectations are not clear or you have a time conflict because of homework assignments in several different subjects.
  • Set a time for homework and work in a quiet space away from distractions.
