At the TDSB, Before and After School Programs are offered to provide children with more opportunities to learn. Early childhood educators (ECEs) lead these play-based programs in ways that extend the learning that happens during the school day. These programs also allow children to further develop their social skills while engaging in a variety of meaningful activities. Before and After School Programs include a mix of exploration, guided and independent activities, quiet time and outdoor play.
Before and After School Programs are offered by third-party child care providers in schools where there is sufficient confirmed interest by families. In schools that do not currently have a Before and After School Program, parents/guardians are asked to complete the Before and After School Program Parent Survey of Interest. For more information, speak to the school Office Administrator or Principal when registering your child.
If there is already a Before and After School Program at the school, it is recommended that parents/guardians connect directly with the third party child care provider for more information, including details about registration. The child care operators will provide further information regarding days and hours of operation as well as program fees.
Families receiving a child care subsidy may request to have it applied towards the Before and After School Program fees. Child care subsidies are supported through the City of Toronto. To apply, visit the oronto Children’s Service website or phone 311.
