In alignment with P.022 Early Learning and Care Policy, the TDSB recognizes Before-and After-School Programs (BASP) are an integral part of Early Years learning. In compliance with the Education Act, Reg. 221/11, school boards are required to ensure the provision of BASP in each elementary school for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6, where there is sufficient demand and/or viability.
To meet this requirement, the TDSB assesses parental interest in BASP through an annual survey process. Only parents/guardians at schools where there is not currently a full complement of BASPs are being surveyed.
If there is currently a BASP at your child’s school, please contact the program directly to find out about programming, wait lists and how to register.
Completing the 2019-20 Before-and After-School Program Parent Survey of Interest
The purpose of this survey is to better understand the Before- and After-School Program needs for children who will be registered in Kindergarten to Grade 6 in September 2019.
The information collected through this survey will help the TDSB identify where new or expanded programs are needed in schools that do not have a full complement of BASP for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. Please note, completing this survey does not guarantee that a BASP will be offered at your child’s school, nor does it determine admission priority should a program be developed. If there is sufficient initial interest for a school, parents will be notified and a separate registration and waitlist process will take place. Please note, bussing to and from BASP is not provided by the TDSB and will be the responsibility of parents/guardians.
The 2019-20 Before-and After-School Programs Parent Survey of Interest is available during Kindergarten Registration Month, February 3 – March 1, 2019. Paper copies of the 2019-20 Before-and After-School Programs Parent Survey of Interest are available upon request at schools being surveyed.
